This seamless private medical university is associated with the industry’s best-in-class education groups and approved by local and international authorities. Its courses are recognized across the globe and approved by the respective councils of different countries.
Inception and Emergence of Texila American University
It was in the year 2010 when the Founder and President of the university, Mr. Saju Baskar, founded TAU in Guyana. Mr. Saju Baskar, a visionary and enthusiastic young man, has laid a strong foundation that allows this university to spread its wing across all educational aspects.
Being inaugurated to provide medical education to students, TAU has extended its educational services to allied health science courses such as a bachelor of science in nursing, a diploma in pharmacy, and a bachelor of pharmacy.
This seamless medical university has been highly acclaimed for its educational services in South America. It was a bigger milestone when the campus was inaugurated in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. This campus was the result of Mr. Saju Baskar’s aspiration to help Zambia students access quality medical education in their locality.
Moreover, it also offers postgraduate fellowship medical courses in regular and blended modes and online PhD in medicine courses as a way to help Indian doctors pursue their medical specialty courses without compromising their clinical practice. Alongside, TAU offers extensive training for the exams of Royal College, UK, as a part of its Fellowship with Master of Medicine/Surgery.
Besides its renowned medical and allied health science courses, TAU is widely known for its online courses because it adopts a unique BRICS methodology to deliver all its online courses across the globe. All its online programs fall under the term “Distance and Blended Learning Program (DBLP),” which means these are not just online or distance learning programs but interactive ones where the students will be guided and supported through online platforms.
Under DBLP, TAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs in public health, business administration, public administration, social work, technology, and much more.
And TAU has recently started an online tutoring service, named Smart Labz, for school kids to help students learn their subjects easily with the help of well-experienced tutors.
TAU has crossed several milestones and has a long way to go in this ever-evolving education sector.
Transforming the Lives of Students
Backed by Mrs. Chitra Lakshmi, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of TAU, the President is taking transformative initiatives in the education sector that paved the way for this university to emerge as an industry leader.

Since the university serves as a vast talent pool composed of students and faculty from various geographical, cultural, and religious backgrounds, TAU also focuses on the holistic development of the students. It provides different sports, extracurricular activities, and cultural events to help them develop interpersonal skills. Students are also encouraged to partake in various charitable and voluntary tasks to learn and offer their services to those in need to become more polished individuals with a comprehensive mindset.
Successful Alumni
TAU measures its success with the success and achievements of its alumni and students. TAU’s alumni have occupied higher designations in various public, private, and non-profit organizations delivering their services as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, public health experts, business leaders, administration executives, researchers, and the list goes on. Here are two alumni who are excelling in their respective professions with professional degrees from TAU:
- Dr. Matin Ahmad Khan
As one of the most distinguished alumni of TAU, Dr. Matin Ahmad Khan has completed his MPH, Fellowship (MMSc), and PhD in HIV Medicine with TAU. After his PhD degree, he has been credentialed as an HIV specialist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM), the first Indian and one of the very few South Asians to achieve this excellence. He is currently rendering his services in India.
While achieving tremendous success in his career, Dr. Matin brings laurels to his alma mater and makes TAU proud in the medical world. - Dr. Abiodun Olaiya Paul
Dr. Abiodun Olaiya Paul is another distinguished alumnus of TAU. He was nominated for the Outbreak Hero Award by the African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) and won it in 2018. He was awarded this honor for directing over 200 health staff to contain 9646 suspected cases of Meningitis successfully, reported with a project described Nigeria Emergency Response Unit (NERU).
TAU is always proud of its alumni. Even if they could move one step ahead in their career with a degree earned from TAU, it means a lot to the university.
